The 2Gen Investment Case: Making the Most of Capital in All its Forms

Human Services

Since 2010, funders have invested more than $500 million in advancing the two-generation (2Gen) approach to increase economic and social mobility for families with low incomes. This approach intentionally develops services and supports with both children and adults in mind as opposed to isolating needs. The 2Gen approach—introduced by Ascend at the Aspen Institute—is a Human Services Program core strategy.

In this report, Ascend at the Aspen Institute draws on the past decade of insights from funders and practitioners who have embraced a 2Gen approach in the human services field. The 2Gen Investment Case: Making the Most of Capital in All Its Forms, provides new and seasoned funders with actionable tools to invest in 2Gen approaches that deliver the best outcomes for children and the adults in their lives.

To learn more, watch the video discussion with Anne Mosle, vice president and executive director of Ascend at the Aspen Institute, and Raquel Hatter, managing director of The Kresge Foundation Human Services Program, as they provide a deep dive into the concepts of The 2Gen Investment Case report.
